(IHAL) is seeking dedicated, caring, and reliable Personal Support Workers (PSWs), Developmental Services Workers (DSWs), house cleaners, and caregivers looking to expand their skills in client care. We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, multifaceted role starting with household support and growing into personal support for an individual living with Joubert Syndrome, as well as providing respite and companionship support to their family. Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is considered very helpful!

What You Should Know:

Location: Mississauga, ON (client home)

Role Focus: Housecleaning & Home Maintenance transitioning into PSW / DSW Caregiver Support

What You’ll Do:

Home Support & Health Assistance

• Perform light housekeeping and home cleaning duties (sweeping, mopping, bathroom cleaning, bedroom care, laundry) to maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment.
• Assist with meal preparation and basic kitchen duties.
• Provide medication reminders and monitor daily routines as needed.
• Complete daily care reports and communicate observations effectively to the Case Manager and family.

Personal Support & Daily Care (Growing Role)

• Support an individual living with Joubert Syndrome (wheelchair-bound) as you transition into full PSW/DSW caregiving responsibilities.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and daily routines.
• Provide support with J-tube feedings (with proper training/guidance).
• Assist with computer-based communication tools and adaptive technology setups.
• Provide safe mobility support and wheelchair assistance.

Companionship & Emotional Support

• Provide respite support and companionship for the client and family.
• Accompany and support the client during outings and community activities.
• Engage client in meaningful conversation, developmental activities, and communication support.
• Promote comfort, dignity, independence, and overall well-being.

What We’re Looking For:

• PSW Certificate or DSW Diploma/Certificate (certified or actively pursuing/looking to gain hands-on experience as a caregiver).
• Experience or interest in working with children or young individuals with developmental needs is highly helpful and beneficial.
• Experience with light housekeeping, home cleaning, or caregiving.
• Willingness and eagerness to learn and grow into a full PSW/DSW caregiving role supporting individuals with complex needs (Joubert Syndrome / Ciliopathies).
• Familiarity or willingness to learn specialized care skills (J-tube feedings, wheelchair support, computer-based communication devices).
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Ability to use a mobile phone for documentation and time tracking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Second language is an asset; Spanish or French 
• Reliable, compassionate, patient, and able to respond calmly in all situations
