We are seeking a compassionate, attentive, and emotionally intelligent Companion/Caregiver to support a client enrolled in a specialized Butterfly program. The ideal candidate will provide consistent presence, meaningful engagement, and a calm, reassuring environment aligned with the program’s philosophy of care. This position is best suited to someone who is confident yet gentle, attentive without being overbearing, and naturally engaging.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of presence, tone, and emotional awareness in creating a supportive and engaging experience for clients within the Butterfly program environment


What You should know: 
Location: Malton

Shift: Friday, Satrday and Sunday 4:00 pm-8:30 pm Weekly 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated, focused companionship and support
  • Engage in consistent, meaningful interaction
  • Maintain a calm, uplifting tone of voice and demeanor
  • Foster a safe, comfortable, and emotionally supportive environment
  • Exercise sound judgment in daily situations
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills when needed
  • Remain fully present and attentive during all interactions

What We’re Looking For

  • PSW Certificate required
  • Italian-speaking is an asset 
  • 2 years of caregiving or PSW experience, proven caregiving or companion experience (dementia or specialized program experience preferred)
  • 2 years experience working with non-verbal dementia patients
  • 1 year experience in feeding patients 
  • 1 year of experience with wheelchair bound patients
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) or Non-Violent Crisis Prevention preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required
  • Ability to use a mobile phone for documentation and time tracking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable, compassionate, and able to respond calmly to unexpected situations
  • Commitment to client safety, dignity, and respect
